The Canal Market District is a vibrant farmers market in downtown Newark, Ohio, offering a wide variety of local produce, handcrafted goods, and community events.
The Canal Market District is rooted in history, culture, and local bounty. The market is located at the historic Ohio Canal open-air pavilion in downtown Newark, Ohio. The atmosphere is full of energy and excitement, with over 20,000 annual shoppers chatting with farmers, meeting artisans, and becoming an active part of the community. The Canal Market District farmers market operates every Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, May through October, and every Tuesday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, June through September. We're open rain or shine because of our open-air covered pavilion. We were featured in Ohio Magazine's 'Famous Ohio Markets' issue, and as we head into our eighth season, there is a reason why. Our special market is packed with locally grown produce, handcrafted chocolate, bread, art, and more! We also accept SNAP/EBT and participate in the Produce Perks program to match your benefits up to $25 per market day.
The market is located at a historic canal, is DORA friendly (allowing alcoholic beverages from approved businesses within the market), accepts SNAP/EBT, and participates in the Produce Perks program.
