A group of dedicated farmers, artisans, bakers, musicians, and craftsmen gather each Saturday to deliver the finest in local goods and mountain music.
For over 30 years, the Yancey County Farmers Market has provided the community with fresh, local, high-quality farm products, crafts, and services. It serves as a viable retail outlet for local farmers and crafters in an atmosphere conducive to the exchange of information and ideas between producers and consumers. The market also promotes local food security by providing access to education and experience in Agriculture. This mission is fulfilled by participating in State and Federal Food Stamp Programs, holding free cooking demonstrations, reserving vendor tables for community nonprofits and youth, and through fundraising which provides Scholarships and Awards to local students pursuing education and/or careers in Agriculture.
The market has been running for over 30 years and is just minutes from Mt. Mitchell and the Blue Ridge Parkway, making it a great stop for tourists and locals alike. They support local food security and agriculture education through various programs.
