Jamaica Plain/Loring-Greenough

About This Market

A small neighborhood market in Jamaica Plain featuring fresh, local foods. Open year-round on Saturdays and seasonally on Tuesdays.

The Jamaica Plain Farmers Market is a small neighborhood market, featuring only the freshest local foods. The vendors must produce or make their own product and due to the small area for the market, there are no crafts or other non-food items for sale. We have farmers who accept farmer market coupons, WIC, and SNAP/HIP.

The market was created in 1984 by a few members of the community. The organization was soon run by Bob Ashley of JP and was held on Tuesdays on the Curtis Hall lawn. Glenn Stillman of Lunenburg and Al Sullivan of Milton were the only marketers, though others tried it and left for various reasons. It was quite an amusing scene then, with these three characters giving each other the support needed to keep on going to the market. Bob knew the market would be great someday!

When Curtis Hall was renovated, the market was moved to the Bank of Boston Parking lot at 677 Centre St. The market is very fortunate to have the bank as a host and it is a great convenience to the community to have this central location. Though there is limited space, the market offers a nice selection of wonderful food.
